Thanks to all 2022 Summer Entertainment Series Sponsors for bringing back the popular concerts and outdoor movies that serve as an important connection to community. The Fairfax County Park Authority’s Summer Entertainment Series features more shows at 18 locations; a new global dance and music series in Falls Church; Starlight Cinema drive-in movies in Centreville on Saturday evenings in August, plus 180 live performances!
You’ll find outstanding local and national touring groups, such as the famous The Box Tops, D.C.’s own Junkyard Go-Go Band, internationally acclaimed Nada Surf’s alternative rock, and the incomparable Seldom Scene.
There will be local vineyards offering free wine tasting (and sales) at Arrowbrook Centre Park, Grist Mill Park and the Government Center, as well as beer sales and a food truck at Burke Lake Park. The Mt. Vernon Nights’ Workhouse Arts Center concert series will feature local comedians as opening acts on Saturday evenings! Performances are held outdoors and are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. So, pack a picnic basket, umbrella, blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy evenings of music in the parks, as well as Arts in the Parks Saturday and Wednesday morning shows just for children! The Summer Entertainment Series includes the educational Arts in the Parks shows that introduces children to live, quality entertainment in an outdoor setting. These performances are held every Saturday morning at outdoor amphitheaters in Burke Lake Park, Mason District Park, Wakefield Park and E. C. Lawrence Park. There are also programs each Wednesday morning at Frying Pan Farm Park Visitors Center.
The Summer Entertainment Series is supported by nonprofit organizations, individuals and private sector businesses. These partners have donated the financial resources that enable the Park Authority to book nationally-recognized artists and the area's top local talent.
