The FCPA Virtual Summer Entertainment Series connected renowned performers with audiences via live stream in 2020. Thank you to all who sponsored these popular community events presented by your parks!
The Park Authority, in partnership with the Fairfax County Park Foundation and generous sponsors presents a summer-long series of shows, concerts and movies. These concerts, held in local parks are the perfect place to bring a picnic dinner, blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the best local and regional entertainers. Best of all, they are close to home and absolutely free to attendees thanks to sponsors!
Nearly 200 performances such as the Seldom Scene (pictured) range from children's puppet shows to big band, jazz, bluegrass, rock, classical and world music. For those who love a classic, enjoy a nostalgic return to the good old days and the drive-in theatre where you can view movies from the comfort of your car.
The Summer Entertainment Series includes the special Arts in the Parks that introduces children to live, quality entertainment in an outdoor setting. These performances are held every Saturday morning at outdoor amphitheaters in Burke Lake Park, Mason District Park and E. C. Lawrence Park. There are also programs each Wednesday morning at Frying Pan Farm Park.
The Summer Entertainment Series is supported by nonprofit organizations, individuals and private sector businesses. These partners have donated the financial resources that enable the Park Authority to book nationally-recognized artists and the area's top local talent. Generosity from I-66 express mobility partners, made the popular Starlight Cinema Drive-In Movies series at Trinity Centre possible. Drivers are invited keep abreast of the latest traffic alerts by signing up online at I-66 express mobility partners.
Transurban and Fluor invested in the 495 and 95 Express Lanes Community Grant program to demonstrate the long-term commitment to the region. Numerous Fairfax County park programs have been supported over the years including the Summer Entertainment Series.
