The Fairfax County Park Foundation (FCPF) appreciates the Eakin Family for continuing the 75-year tradition that LeRoy Eakin, Sr. started by donating 4.5 acres of land in 1951; then another 240 additional acres which expanded to more than 24,000 acres and 424 Fairfax County Parks that we cherish today!

The Eakin Family Trust and individual family members have contributed more than $400,000 to the Fairfax County Park Foundation for numerous projects including a large Family Picnic Shelter near Tobin Road and significant improvements at the Prosperity Avenue entrance of Eakin Community Park in Fairfax, Virginia.

The FCPF Eakin Philanthropy Award was established to recognize visionary financial and material contributions that significantly enhance Fairfax County parks.

Over the years, John Eakin, Tim Eakin Walsh, and Laura Eakin Erlacher have also dedicated their time and talent through volunteer service on the Fairfax County Park Foundation board. The Eakin Family tradition continues for Fairfax County parks.
